LEGAL & GOVERNANCE

Legal & Registry Information

The Space Exploration & Resource Registry provides a structured, permanent record system for defined coordinate-based Registry Units. This page explains the basis on which the Registry operates and the terms applicable to its use.

01

CUSTOMER TERMS

Registry Terms

SERR maintains a private registry of uniquely identified, coordinate-based Registry Units. Each Registry Unit is identified by a permanent Registry Area ID (RAID) and associated registry data.

Registration

A completed registration records the registered holder in the SERR Registry for the selected Registry Unit. Following successful payment and completion of registration, SERR issues a digital certificate reflecting the registry information recorded at the time of issuance.

Registry records

The RAID is the permanent public identifier of a Registry Unit. SERR maintains the authoritative registry record and may preserve historical information necessary to maintain the integrity and continuity of that record.

Fees and payment

Registry fees are displayed before checkout and are payable in the currency shown. Payment processing may be provided by an independent payment service provider. A registration is completed only after payment has been successfully confirmed.

Cancellations and refunds

An unpaid or incomplete registration may expire or be cancelled, after which the Registry Unit may become available again. Once a paid registration has been completed and the Registry record and certificate have been issued, the service has been performed and the registry fee is generally non-refundable, except where required by applicable law or where SERR determines that a processing error occurred.

Accuracy

Customers are responsible for providing accurate registration information. SERR may correct administrative or technical errors while preserving the integrity and history of the Registry.

Availability

Registry Unit availability is determined by the authoritative SERR Registry. Selection or reservation of a Registry Unit does not constitute completed registration until the registration and payment process has been successfully completed.

Limitation

SERR provides registry, recordkeeping and related digital services. To the extent permitted by applicable law, SERR is not liable for indirect, consequential or speculative losses arising from the use of the Registry or reliance on scientific, geographic or other reference information presented through the service.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Legal Disclaimer

SERR is an independent private registry. It is not a governmental, intergovernmental or sovereign authority and does not claim to exercise jurisdiction over Mars or any other celestial body.

Registration of a Registry Unit does not constitute the sale or transfer of sovereign territory or celestial real estate and does not confer governmental property rights, sovereignty, mineral rights, mining rights, extraction rights or any other right that may only be created or recognised under applicable law.

A SERR registration records a contractual registry interest within the SERR system in accordance with the Registry's terms and governance framework. A SERR certificate is evidence of that registry record and should not be represented as a government-issued land title or sovereign property instrument.

Scientific, geographic, terrain and planetary information made available by SERR is provided as reference information. Such data may be updated or refined as source data and scientific knowledge develop.

03

DATA PROTECTION

Privacy

SERR collects information reasonably necessary to create and administer user accounts, process registrations, maintain registry records, issue certificates, provide customer support and protect the integrity of the Registry.

Information we may collect

This may include a customer's name, email address, account information, registration details and identification information supplied during the registration process.

Payments

Payments may be processed by an independent payment service provider. SERR does not need to publish payment-card information in the Registry and does not display such information as part of a public Registry record.

Public Registry

The Public Registry is designed to permit verification of Registry Units and their record status. The identity of a registered holder is not publicly disclosed by default. Personal registration information remains available through appropriate authenticated services where applicable.

Use and retention

Information is used for operating and securing the Registry, fulfilling registrations, maintaining records and complying with legitimate legal or administrative requirements. Registry-related information may be retained where reasonably necessary to preserve the integrity and historical continuity of the Registry.

Service providers

SERR may use reputable service providers for functions such as hosting, authentication, payment processing and communications. Information is shared with such providers only as reasonably necessary for those services.

Analytics and measurement

With a visitor's permission, SERR uses Google Analytics to understand how people reach and use the website and whether a Registry registration is completed. This measurement may use first-party cookies or similar identifiers and may include campaign information such as approved UTM parameters or a Google advertising click identifier. SERR does not send registration-form contents, identification information or payment-method details to analytics.

Analytics choices

Optional analytics and advertising storage are denied unless a visitor accepts them. A visitor may reject analytics or change the choice later through the Privacy choices control displayed on the website. Essential account, security and transaction functions do not depend on accepting analytics.

REGISTRY GOVERNANCE

Registry Charter

The SERR Registry Charter establishes the principles under which the Space Exploration & Resource Registry is maintained.

1. Defined Registry Units

Registry Units are defined through a consistent coordinate-based framework and assigned permanent Registry Area IDs. The RAID is intended to provide a stable reference to the same defined Registry Unit over time.

2. Integrity of the Registry

SERR seeks to maintain an accurate and durable chain of registry records. Completed registrations are preserved as part of the historical Registry and material changes should remain traceable.

3. Scientific integrity

Scientific and planetary reference information associated with Registry Units is maintained separately from the legal status of a registration and may evolve as better information becomes available.

4. Transparency

SERR seeks to describe clearly what its Registry records represent and, equally importantly, what they do not represent. The Registry does not claim sovereign authority or governmental recognition.

5. Privacy

Public verification should not require unnecessary disclosure of personal information. SERR therefore separates public Registry information from private holder information.

6. Continuity and development

The Registry may evolve as technology, scientific knowledge, commercial space activity and relevant legal frameworks develop. SERR's objective is to preserve continuity of established Registry Units and records while allowing the system to adapt responsibly.
